Common repairs would require a standard Reducer, that would fit inside the socket end of a piece of plumbing and reduce the size of the pipe used thereafter. A Bell Reducer is a very different style of reducer - a Bell Reducer fits onto the spiggot end of plumbing and then reduces down to accept a newly sized piece of plastic plumbing (not a piece of pipe)

The 1-1/2" end of this Bell Reducer fits on the spiggot end of 1-1/2" plumbing and reduces down allowing the use of 1" fittings.
